Leaders of disruptive vacation brand Inspirato have shared insight on what trends to expect in the high-end world of luxury travel. The outlook for those in the upper tax bracket has never looked more eclectic. In this industry, one could say the customer is always right; in the modern ’20s, it is an understatement.
We joined serial entrepreneur, author, and CEO of Inspirato Payam Zamani for a virtual event where he presented an outline for the future of luxury travel. Put simply, the days of just wanting the best are disappearing, replaced by more intentional, personalized adventures and travel-adjacent experiences.
The Race to Millionaire Status

The United States has been in an economic purple patch of late: a reported one in every 15 Americans is now a millionaire, according to a UBS study quoted in Fortune. While some may argue a cool million isn’t what it used to be, it does indicate why more people are drawn toward bespoke travel experiences. It is something Zamani saw coming a long time ago.
A Mastercard Economics Institute published a report in 2025 highlighting what is fueling the trend in this new era of holistic travel. “Today’s tourists are prioritizing meaningful experiences from off-the-grid escapes to cities with serious global culinary cred,” reads the paper.
Inspirato’s own research team confirms this, sharing data from the same study. It shows that almost two-thirds of consumers favor experiences over things, and translates as 60% of travelers choosing “unforgettable moments over additional material goods.”
The YOLO generation is seemingly rubbing off on its wealthy Gen-X and boomer predecessors.
A New Vision for Luxury Home Stays

“We now have 320 homes on our books and 220 resort and hotel partners in over 160 destinations,” Zamani says. Clearly, business is doing great. Inspirato is built mainly on the premise that the wealthy wish to have a holiday home somewhere, but are tired of the upkeep. Yet, it is more than just real estate.
In what sounds like a win-win scenario, members can access any one of these properties, notwithstanding membership level and availability. The business model transcends the idea of retiring for summers or winter vacations to one’s second home in their local or neighboring state.
Inspirato members can choose a new location each time they plan to travel, while never compromising on the luxury. “Membership gives you a chance to enjoy luxury living abroad without the real-estate headache,” Zamani explains. “We are making the most of luxury home networks, making money for members, and offering luxury services.”
Destinations for High Achievers

A cursory glance at some of the real estate Inspirato manages is enough to understand the appeal. The portfolio contains listings across the United States, Europe, and every other world bloc. Yet, it isn’t only luxury homestays bringing travelers on board.
Members can frequent some of the world’s most exclusive and upcoming destinations. Abodes like seafront mansions in Croatia, boutique hotels in Burgundy’s Loire Valley, or vast mountain estates in Montana reflect members’ expectations.
However, accommodation and destination form only part of the magnet. The firm also operates a growing number of bespoke travel experiences. Inspirato VP for Experiential Travel Jolene Campbell reveals how safaris and adventure travel account for almost one-third of bookings.
More than a Vacation for the Wealthy

Members’ choices for these options stem from a desire to create never-before-made memories. “Some of the less-obvious destinations, such as Komodo Island, Taiwan, and Mongolia, are good examples of where there is interest,” she explains.
Other examples of popular trips include world-class sporting events. Mere weekends away now stand in the shadow of fully supported escapades to major tournaments. Packages at the PGA golf tournament, The Masters, or VIP access to World Cup 2026 and the Kentucky Derby reflect what many seek.
It seems successful people are rolling the dice with what is possible come vacation time. Yet, it is the service that keeps bringing customers back. Access to daily housekeeping, a 24-hour concierge, and other unique, tailored experiences is the norm. In a term Campbell’s boss labels “pre-release guerilla tracking,” these trips come with huge front-loaded reconnaissance.
Every Last Detail Covered

Citing the popular Arctic Expedition tour, Campbell mentions how everything is thought out with massive local, professional input. Anything from the sunset photo opportunities to the polar bears appearing on cue isn’t by accident.
“We are the background; we are Mission Control,” she concludes with a smile. “Guests can enjoy this experience without any worries.” She mentions how some visitors call an Inspirato experience like being in a “grown-up summer camp.” Having one’s hand held while enjoying an itinerary based on personal preferences and high-end luxury retains an unsurprisingly strong appeal.
Yet, even those at the top may overstep the mark with their demands. Asked about the most ambitious request she has ever heard, Campbell hesitates before referencing the company’s Wimbledon Tennis Championship trip, a popular members’ choice.
“One client said they wished to meet tennis star Rafael Nadal, which was taking things a little far,” she laughs. “I think we managed a selfie with his coach in the end.”
Maybe one day, pro athletes will be part of the experience. Until then, members will have to contend with some of the most extravagant travel itineraries on Earth.
